The 4 th of February is an important day for Sri Lanka, and this year the nation celebrated 72 years of independence. All our centres commemorated the day with special events that were not just fun but also brought the children together as one family, under one flag. The children and the teachers decorated the centres with the national flags and the kids also spent time drawing and making collages of the flag. Each centre also held a special ceremony where the national flag was raised up as the national anthem was heartily sung by all. For the ceremony, the children dressed in traditional national costume - the white sarong and shirt for the boys and the white half sari or ‘lama sari’ for the girls. After the ceremony everyone gathered to watch a movie about our country – Mother Lanka. This day was special in many aspects as it brought together children from different ethnicities, celebrating as one.">
